The Lupus Foundation of America is the national force devoted to solving the mystery of lupus, one of the world's cruelest, most unpredictable and devastating diseases, while giving caring support to those who suffer from its brutal impact. Through a comprehensive program of research, education, support and advocacy, we lead the fight to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus. The Lupus Foundation of America launched the "Be Fierce. Take Control.®" campaign to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of lupus among African American and Latino women. 90 percent of people with lupus are women and African American and Latino women are 2-3 times greater risk for develop lupus. The campaign is supported through a grant by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and encourages young women to learn more and take action by speaking with their healthcare provider.
